Your freshman year marks the start of your college admission track record.

An estimated 3.3 million students will graduate from high school this year and more than 2.1 million will compete for college admissions nationwide.  The more desirable the school, the more applications the school will receive, and the more competitive you must be to gain acceptance.  The path to success begins early.

What are colleges looking for?*

The primary factors that affect college admission decisions are:

  • Grades in College Prep Courses
  • Strength of Curriculum
  • High Standardized Admissions Test Scores (SAT/ACT)
  • Overall High School GPA
  • Well-Written Essay
  • High Class Rank

Our college admissions guidance program helps you build a record for success, from the start.

If you see yourself attending the competitive college of your choice, your ninth grade year is the time to get serious about academic performance.  Getting started early will make your senior year much less stressful, for you and your parents.

To gauge your readiness for high school success, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do you have solid study skills?
  • Do you have good time-management skills?
  • Do you understand that your academic future is dependent on the decisions you make today?
  • Do you have the goals and strategies necessary to succeed in high school?

  • Review the impact of grades and course selection as they relate to college admissions.
  • Check the high school curriculum requirements for your targeted colleges.
  • Encourage involvement in extracurricular activities and community service.
  • Engage in the decision-making process and learn to look at options more carefully, act more deliberately, and take responsibility for decisions, behavior, and performance.
  • Get to know your high school counselor, and vice versa.
  • Identify any special talents, such as athletics or music, that may be an important factor in the admissions (and scholarship!) process.
  • And much more
