This powerful Academic Assessment Tool will allow us to get a detailed profile of your child's individual academic strengths & needs.

The specific academic needs of your son or daughter are captured through this unique combination of standardized tests, diagnostic tools, personal interviews, and even vision & hearing screening. This assessment is required for each of our new freshmen, sophomore, or junior student clients…and the entire cost of this initial assessment is covered under your contract with College Vision. The results serve as a blueprint for all of us to use…to determine where your child needs the most help. From this, we’ll work with you to develop the most personalized college planning program possible for your high school student!

Here are some typical examples of how the Sylvan Skills Assessment Tool can make a real difference:

• Academic subjects don’t exist in isolation. Addressing what ‘someone thinks the problem is’ in one subject doesn’t always remediate the underlying problem. For instance, a student might be struggling in Math because he can’t read ‘word-problems’ very well. Without this assessment, a tutor could mistakenly spend time focusing on Math skills…when the most pressing needs are really in Reading.
• Problems in school are rarely limited to one subject. While trouble in one subject may be more obvious than another, more often than not, the assessment will uncover skill gaps in other subject areas, as well…which tells us where to put our focus.
